Megann always felt food styling & photography was her calling but never found the right time nor place to pursue her passion as a career amongst the pressures of work & family life. She found comfort in cooking + being behind the lens as a form of strengthening therapy after birthing complications after her son, which then led to creating a hobby food blog, "Megann's Kitchen" in 2010 which was rated in Aust. top 100 woman's blogs.

The final "push" into her starting her own business came when she was heartbroken after losing a friend to cancer. Alicia was a brilliant mother to a 2 year old gorgeous boy & wonderful wife to a loving husband... & so very young. Realising that life was too short to let dreams pass her by, the very next day Megann resigned from her position in retail & took her side hustle business to full-time.... & she hasn't looked back.

ABOUT
Megann

Growing up in a small town in North Eastern Victoria's Alpine Region, Australia, almost all food was home made by her American mother, a natural stylist, with a Southern Kentucky flair. Megann would sit on the bench top watching, smelling & taking in all that was to be learned visually (she wasn't allowed actually in the kitchen!). Her favourite? The many decadent PIES! It was her father who gifted her with his talent for photography, passing on his original 1970's Olympus OM-1 & lenses which started her fire for original film photography.

Megann then went on to obtain a diploma in Visual Arts & Display in Visual Merchandising at RMIT in Melbourne, where she learnt the fundamentals of design, visual styling, photography, marketing & business - always longing to create what was on the pages of her favourite food magazines, this is where she & her teachers focused her projects where they could. After a university design trip to Japan... she was simply inspired! While working in retail full-time, she returned to gain work experience as a stylist assistant in Sydney with magazines such as Better Homes & Gardens Magazine, Women's Weekly (Christmas Editions), Inside Out Magazine which included talented photographers such as Brett Stevens & Aanson Smart.

After a very successful career in retail management + vm for her favourite brands such as Cue & Country Road, she then shifted gears to create an opportunity to own & operate a prosperous baking business, also named "Megann's Kitchen" - thriving & quadrupling turnover in its first year... but her calling was always back to behind the lens, creating food & drink photography + styling. Since officially launching her "Megann Evans Photography" in February 2018 it has gone from strength to strength, creating many images for high profile clients & company campaigns eg. Coca-Cola Amatil & Tassal Salmon.

As a proud military wife & mother of two gorgeous children currently based in Newcastle, NSW, she is a photographer, talented stylist as well as a recipe developer + micro-influencer who specialises in food & beverage + lifestyle + interior. She is now in high demand across the Hunter Region, Sydney, NSW & Australia.

my #meglife musts

"I can afford someone to do allllllll the household cleaning chores (who has time for that?), fresh flowers for each room each week (like Martha Stewart), all my house renovations completed & can buy the first family 5 star overseas holiday in the sun (we need to punch the passports for the first time y'all!)"

i'll know i've made it when...

My biggest work acheivment is...

Seeing my work taken from concept right through to the finished product in grocery and retail print for a campaign. I will always get a kick out of being a part of something huge...

Honestly, it's my wonderful & beautiful family. I was once told I couldn't have kids and entered my marriage believing so. Now, after honestly the hardest & most challenging time in my life, I have not one but two incredible miracles. With the love & support of my amazing husband we overcame all the obstacles and I cherish every moment we have together as a family."

I am most Proud of...
